Description

Beautifully restored Mineral Pool Complex. Focusing on relaxation and rehabilitation. Therapy studio above, physiotherapists, Aix massage suite, and a diverse range of therapeutic massage: sports, relaxation, huna, and wastu. 5 private rooms, each with shower and change area. Computer controlled filling system that drains after each booking. Temperatures range from 32 to 40 degrees. In ground therapy pool and luxury group spa to accommodate large groups. Chlorine free. Artesian bore 3004 ft sourced during oil exploration in the 1900s. Total relaxation, wellness, from earth to you! [Sam, NZ]

My Experience

This place is pretty cool, I have been there a lot when visiting my Dad in Taranaki. It is made up of several private spa pools and 2 medium sized public pools. They are all indoors and the place is very tastefully furnished and professional. The price is a little steep but the hosts are very friendly and you get to choose the precise temp you like. Another of my personal favourites.

  1. The best!, pool was perfect and had massage after, great combo, went in on valentines day, would fully recomend as they really roll out the red carpet and go the exra mile for you, with nibbles and wine and beer in spa to make the best valentines day ever, A+++

  3. I find my twice weekly visits to the pools such a totally relaxing and therapeutic experience that really helps me tolerate living with the constant pain of Arthiritis. On leaving the pools I find I am totally relaxed and at peace and my pain levels are minimal.The staff are so friendly and empathetic to all the clients wishs that I can not thank them enough for making my visits a truly enjoyable experience.

  8. unfortunatley the poor massages that are given lets these fantastic pools down. they are lovely and purely relaxing, but i would not reccommend an AIX massage. neither would others i have spoken to.

  11. what can i say! perfect in every way. staff friendly and grounded. we have moved here from north wales uk and we came out after experiencing the mineral pool refreshed calm cleansed. this is a real life changing experience. we will become regulars it is child friendly before 5.00pm and we were shocked at other comments we will tell everyone visiting here from uk. once again heavenly thanks to all regards shaun and michelle p.s. the drinking water is the best ever

  13. A beautiful relaxation center with many wonderful options - massage, facials, hot pools (cleaned inbetween customers and filled on arrival), hairdressing, float tank, cannot get enuf! The no children policy after 5.30 is great as the noise level is much lower. I try and go as often as poss, highly recommended :)

  14. A very, very cool place for a wind down. Clean and fresh amenities, Qualmark rating displayed and lots of historic information. I find it odd that the three bad comments are all posted on the same day?? I certainly can't agree with any of them. Staff were efficient and friendly with good information provided.

  15. My partner & I quite often come to these pools as we live here. Staff are good & I dont know what mineral pools people are referring to because it certainly is not a dirty place. Also, how can the pools be cold if you choose the temperature yourself?!?!? I also agree that as it is a place of relaxation, if you want to take your children somewhere go to Kawaroa Aquatic Centre. Mineral Pools are highly recommended!!

  16. Been going to Mineral Pools for years. Love it! Massages are great here too. Prices for the private pools are well priced compared to the likes of Rotorua.

  17. Love this place! My boyfriend and I came here November last year when we took a mini break to the Naki. Beautiful clean water, silky smooth and very hot - you can pick your own temperature! I don't know what these other people are on about with the water not being hot enough and the pools being dirty - it was clean as a whistle as they put fresh water in for you, and it was so hot that my boyfriend nearly passed out when we got out of the pool and had to sit down in reception for a few minutes! Staff were very friendly and made sure that the atmosphere remained quiet by telling people to keep the noise levels down. I didn't have a problem with that - we were there to relax. If you want a place for your kids then go to some public pools or something... This place gets the thumbs up from me!

  18. Is nice if it was warm enough. Never can get it as hot as you really want it. Not very child friendly. My very shy 3 year was told to use her "inside voice" when she hadn't even said a word. Obviously had bad kids in past but should not blame poor innocent child over this. Give customers the child guidelines. ALso try to book a pool one evening as we had visitors from out of town and were told NO kids after 4.30. How rude! So family can come but not the kids! We only have one very shy three year old for goodness sakes!

  23. Were told that we looked like we were cold because we were so rugged up and that the temp would be the coolest they had. I asked for the hottest and the person declined. Would have been great if the water was hot.
