Description

Te Aroha is a pretty rural town that makes a great base for exploring the Waikato area, Coromandel and Tauranga, all within an hour's drive!

The Holiday Park was established from a 100 year old homestead with stately oak trees providing plenty of shade.

Accommodation includes powered camp sites, comfy wooden cabins and fully serviced family cottages sleeping up to six people. All cabins and cottages have a television and some cooking facilities.

We have 2 hot pools, one with Hydro jets ideal to massage any sore joints from the long drive and a pure mineral water hot tub, set in the rocks, with seating for 6 and open all season. You might just be blown away by the umbrella of stars and our stunning sunsets on a cold winter's night sitting in the hot mineral water.

The children's play area incorporates tree swings and a trampoline. For rainy days, there is a family room which has toys and books. Older kids can pick up our free of charge wireless signal from most places to keep them entertained.

Directions

From North, follow SH 1 towards Hamilton , turn on to SH 2, after Bombay Hills, then SH 27 until Tatuanui, then onto SH 26 towards Coromandel- Te Aroha. At Shell petrol station, go onto Stanley Road south west for 2 km we are on the left by the flags.

From South, follow SH 2 towards hamilton or SH 1 towards Taupo, Tokoroa, Putaruru, Matamata, then SH 26 towards Te Aroha

  2. Dear Murray. Thank you for your feed back. I can fully understand your dissapointment if you thought that there were no pools available, but am sorry that you chose not to have a closer after I explained to you the location of both our Hydro Jet and our Mineral Water Rock pool. Both these pools were operational, they are cleaned and re-filled daily and other guests staying that night enjoyed the Hot Pool experience under the stars. Our Pool complex comprises 2 large summer pools, these are empty now, it also hosts the smaller pool lowered amongst the rocks which we fill up with fresh Spring water every night and heat it up to 40 oC.(unless it is stormy of course!) It is true the 2 empty summer pools you saw and are obviously commenting on are littered with autumn leaves, an annual event when our oak trees come into season and especially so after one of our Te Aroha Storms. All our camp and campervan sites are on grass some under trees, others along hedge lines. Guests can choose from a range of sites. We don't have any hard concrete pads to park your vans, which sometimes can be difficult in wet weather and I explained that to you when you checked in. I thought that you were satisfied when I saw that you had connected to our facilities and found a safe spot to park under the trees on our northern boundary. Once again sorry that you choose to leave after you spend the afternoon at our park.

  3. Very disappointed in the overall standard and facilities of this place. We arrived with a campervan and were sent out to park under trees at the edge of the property with no walkways, paths, etc only muddy grass to access back to the facilities. We looked around for the hot pools and only found a dirty empty swimming pool and what looked like a fish pond under a dirty plastic cover. We were told that this was the "mineral pool" but it sure didn't give any feeling of that. We expected some association with the hot pools of Te Aroha but were confronted with a dirty concrete pond. We decided not to stay and asked for a refund (we had only been there half an hour) but were refused as there was a very small hand written note 'no refunds' in the visitors register. I am thinking of taking this organisation to the disputes tribunal for a refund as there were no terms and conditions and the facilities were certainly not up to the advertised 3 star rating. Do not recommend this facility until proper pools are provided and full explanation of terms & conditions.

  4. I have stayed in motor camps, motels and hotels across New Zealand for many years now and the Te Aroha Holiday Park and Backpackers offers a fine facility. I stayed 4 nights in Apple Cottage - it was warm, comfortable and clean and very nicely decorated. The service was also warm and friendly - I will certainly return in the future.

  5. We were lucky enough to find Te Aroha holiday park by chance........ we had a warm welcome and pleasantly surprised to find hot pool, clean showers and toilets.... The communal areas, kitchen, tv room and games room were a good place to relax and get to know the other guests. free wi-fi and good connection was another pleasant surprise. it's a good place for families with pools, trampoline and swings. we were only planning to stay for one day but decided to stay a few more. Anna (owner) was very helpful and anything we needed she was happy to sort out. we only had a short time in NZ but when we return we will check in there again, definitely recommended

  6. When we arrived to Te Aroha Holiday park, we wanted to stay just one night. We rented a double-bed-room with own ensuite and after enterning the flat we decided to stay one more night. The place was clean, nice, and we really enjoyed our staying here.

  7. Dear Mr Stevens. Immediately after your complaint on Sunday morning, the flat you and your family stayed in for one night was cleaned and inspected and our usual careful cleaning routines applied to prepare it for our next arrivals that night. As expected, no cockroaches were found and our guests that same night were very pleased with their accommodation. That same flat has been sucessfully let out again to two separate travelers following your visit. The same flat had also been occupied by several travelers the week previous to your stay and none had mentioned cockroaches or any other issues with the flat. Can you please get in touch with me and let me know where you found cockroaches, maybe we missed something? We always welcome feedback and much prefer to hear about any issues before our guests check out so we can solve it or offer alternatives. I am sorry that you had a bad experience here.

  10. Dear Elana. Thank you for sending me this feedback. It must have been disappointing , to find that our alfresco fresh mineral water hot pool was empty during the day, because it receives fresh hot mineral water every evening as this is the most preferred time for guests to soak and relax. I was glad to hear that your children had a lot of fun in the large swimming pool during the heat of the day and also enjoyed the ropes on the tree swings. Thank you for the suggestions I will be re-painting the seats on the ropes and edges of the concrete pool this season. I am glad you liked the flowers in the Cottage, we always have fresh herbs available for our guests from the garden as well.

  11. We chose Te Aroha holidy park because of all the good reviews, however was somewhat disappointed. First of all we were looking foreword to the “hot pool” but beware, the pool is only hot in the evening between 6pm and 8pm.During the day this pool is empty. The main pool is cold, the kids had a lot of fun but the pool could do with some fresh paint. The play area also needs some TLC. The cabin was clean and the flowers on the table were a nice touch. Overall, the holiday park is neat and tidy but needs updating.

  14. Because of the cleanliness, peacefulness, friendliness, beauty & a little charming old-worldliness of this park, I now call it my 'country estate'.... We first spent 1 week here New Year 09 & have been back 4 times - just back from Easter & due to go again soon. Anna & her staff/helpers could not be more hard-working and/or kind with everything > including problems with our c'van. I always look forward to the sunsets against the silhouetted majestic trees, enjoy the sound of the neighbouring horses, the pool with the al fresco shower! & even the 'hail' of acorns, in a storm. The inclement facilities are varied: pool table, great TV room, with even exercise bikes under cover on the veranda. The close township is inviting with historic buildings & also modern needs catered for. Look for the Italian chandeliers !! in the best pizza place > we buy even when leaving Te Aroha > as the name means love, we love visiting!

  15. Thank you for your feedback Tina Cheung. I am sorry that you missed out staying at the Holiday park this time and I am sure your children would have preferred to play a while longer in the shade of our oaks, swinging from branch to branch and jumping on the trampoline to add extra excitement, while I tried to help you finding alternative accommodation.

Your experience has prompted us to introduce a system to secure a booking by payment in advance. We now include this policy with our confirmation.

  16. It's not the fact that the lady owner double booked us that bothers me, it's the fact that she denied responsibility and made it out to be our fault. And to make herself feel better, she suddenly invented a rule that we're not allowed to use the trampaline in the courtyard, despite us having used it on previous occasions with her knowledge. Her blame shifting and passive aggressive rule inventing was a blemish on our otherwise pleasant holiday.
