My Experience
Fernland Spa is another favourite of mine. I've been visiting for years. They have the temperature just right in the outdoor family pool. What a lovely setting, native bush all around and the evening sky overhead. They have a number of private spas also which are only a couple of dollars extra. Thoroughly enjoyable. Recommended to all.

A large pool in good surroundings. Facilities are good. Had a look at the private pools and would book one on the next visit. Such a good setting I would have done coffee and cake if available. Well worth a visit.

Clean, Shallow (kid friendly), built-in seating all the way round the pool. Signs say no jumping so kids were on a bit of a leash, but warm and happy. Pretty surrounds.

We visited the Fernland in the evening and it was just lovely. The host was a bit distant and not exactly friendly but our experience was fine regardless. The grounds are beautiful, the bbq facilities look fantastic and there were several RVs parked. We used the main pool only and found it to be at a perfect temperature, especially for children. There are several hot jets bubbling upwards if you want a bit more heat and the water looked clean and the built-in seats were very nice. There is a minor sulfur/petrol smell from the jets but only when concentrated over the jets. Air quality otherwise was perfect. The change facilities were clean and ample. There is a drinks machine, coffee machine and ice creams for purchase afterwards. Towels are for hire as well. One thing that stood out to me was a sign near the loo in the change room telling guests not to submerge their heads but there was no other posted warning and no verbal warnings. We were quite confused by this. Overall, an 8 out of 10.

just visited Fernland Spa in the weekend , the atmosphere there is very tranquil and relaxing , Its very apparent these pools are cleaned daily as the spas were "sparkling", , The gardens and surrounds are very pleasing to the eye and the staff member who assisted us (Bree)was very welcoming and helpful.we certainly will be returning and recommend this facility to revitalise yourself.

Hi Harriet Thanks for taking the time to review Fernland Spa although it is disappointing to get such poor feedback. Your comments are important as we do strive to provide a great experience for all our visitors. All our pools are emptied , cleaned and refilled daily and have fresh geothermal water running through them constantly . I have no explanation nor excuse as to why you may have found the pool and water slimy. We do have an older complex and are constantly upgrading the facility which has been a popular destination for locals and visitors for 47 years but do feel our photos are a true representation of what we offer. I do apologize that you found the temperature of your private pool not to be as hot as you would have liked, we would have happily given you a hotter pool or a refund at the time if we were aware of this, as is our policy. I do hope you will visit us again in the future to see the continuing work we are doing to upgrade our facility . I am confident that we offer a good experience as shown by our Google and Trip Advisor reviews and ratings.

Wouldn't recommend it!!! Very old and seen better days we came to use the private pools the water felt slimy as well as the bathing pool floors and walls the water also was just warm. Just the whole thing looked shabby nothing to what the pictures look like. Take a little drive to Rotorua much nicer pools to soak in.

Thanks for your feedback Scott. We are very fortunate to have a great setting and wonderful geothermal water. Our complex has been in operation now for 47 years ( a true testament to its popularity ) and yes we are refurbishing it at present . We do pride ourselves on providing a clean and pleasant environment , some cleaning is carried out during opening hours so I can only assume you were visiting whilst this was happening which would explain the smell. We hope you will visit again soon to see our ongoing improvements.

Very nice pools tucked away in there own tranquil setting.hard to believe that its so close to a city.We used the covered private pool which was quite warm and relaxing.Changing room had toilet and shower and a bench seat for sitting. The decor in the changing area was a bit old and worn but looked to be under slow construction?Everything seemed clean though. The only gripe I would have is the overpowering smell of cleaning chemicals as you entered the complex and inside the reception,it was a sickly sweet toilet cleaner type smell.I could smell it from the car park. But over all it was relatively cheap and a good place to go.

A bit tricky to find, lovely bush surrounds, good changing facilities, nice staff, quiet (afternoon weekday in April), water not hot enough for me except if you stand above the two vents of hot water coming in. Like a dated kids swimming pool - would greatly improve if blue-painted concrete surrounds bowled and made with natural materials and colours to match the surroundings.

My favorite hot pool in tauranga, very warm pool, always the right heat. Very nice setting amongst all the trees. we come here lots in the winter and just love it. we have been coming here for years now, very reasonable price when you compare how much alot of the pools in Rotorua cost.

Beautiful setting in native bush and lovely picnic area. It seems to be a place where you encounter a lot of children so if you want a quiet peaceful soak in the main pool I wouldn't recommend. The pool temperature was good but got too hot after a while. I first went at night and have been during the day and have unfortunately been put off these pools as the water doesn't look very clean.

What a great place Fernland is. We live in Tauranga but don't use these hot pools enough. There's the main pool and private pools. We've used both and it really is just brilliant whichever way you go! The facilities are premium and to top it all off its surrounded by the beauty of native bush.
