Hells Gate is located approximately 15-20 minutes from Rotorua City centre on Te Ngae Road (SH30). It is close to the airport which is the gateway to the Bay of Plenty region for international and domestic visitors alike. Head north on State Highway 30 past the Rotorua Airport. Turn right from Highway 30 to go to Whakatane. Travel another 3km and Hells Gate is located on the left side corner. It has close proximity to Wai Ora Lakeside Spa Resort. [Jade Perez, Hells Gate]

Staff were friendly and helpful. The experience was unusual but a fun experience. Started with 20mins in the mud pool then a rince off, followed by a soak in the thermal pools.

What an amazing experience! My parents are in NZ for a visit and thought it would be good to do the tourist thing and delighted we went to Hell's Gate! Very informative and helpful staff members explained everything, we did the the walk, the mud and sulphar spa! Would definitely do it again.

Great spa facility. Very unique and a great set up. Changing rooms are open to the air which gives a cool cave/grotto feeling about the area and lovely waterfall in the background of the spa. Yes you will smell of sulphur after but it also makes your skin smooth and soft so is well worth it. Just make sure you follow instructions given by their staff about cleaning your swimwear after and its fine. Highly recommended.

You were sent an email immediately acknowledging cancellation on the 19th January and on phoning us on the 22nd January in regard to our cancellation policy I explained we refund within one week back to client. The money has been refunded to your paypal account today 23rd January. Horrible way they run their business !! Would've loved to have come here but due to an urgent family matter we had to cancel and fly out of the country. 4 days after cancelling they still have not refunded me nor replied to emails regarding the refund or called me back!! Disgusting way they treat their customers!! Not happy at all!!!

Fantastic Pools, Great facility - varying temperatures up to 43 degrees, Mud baths are fantastic. Sulphur pool is glorious.

If you are going to Hells Gate for the geothermal park walk, no visit is complete without paying a bit extra to experience a true Mud Bath. The mud is amazing - silky smooth, warm and squishy. Smear it all over your body and face and after a shower your skin will feel as smooth as a babies bottom! Then after your mud experience hop into the milky waters of the soda pools. Luxury! My advise is to pay a little extra to have a private mud bath, that way you can go naked and your togs wont end up smelling of sulphur for weeks. Hells Gate has just gone through a major upgrade with all new pools and landscaped areas, the communal pool now has a view over the thermal park.

It was a miserable, grey day but we enjoyed Hell's Gate anyway. Big umbrellas were provided so I could even take some photos. At the end we had corn on the cob which was cooked in Hells Gate's mineral water.
