Hot Water Beach, Whenuakite
Hot Water Beach has been rated as one of the world’s top 10 beaches by Lonely Planet.
Situated on the east coast of the Coromandel and surrounded by volcanic landscapes, Hot Water Beach is situated on geothermal fissures from where natural volcanic springs seep up through the sand.
With the help of a spade one can create handmade spas on the beach.
Hot Water Beach is also popular with surfers, but take care as there are strong rip tides.
Hot Water Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park is a 700m walk from Hot Water Beach, we cater for all travellers from couples, to families to the well-travelled backpacker.
Our accommodation varies from Deluxe Villas through to cabins and spacious powered and non-powered sites.
Travel to Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Drive through Tairua, continue onto State Highway 25 to Whenuakite. Prepare to turn right just after the school.
Travel +-5kms, turn right onto the Hot Water Beach Rd, Hot Water Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park turnoff is on the right past the bridge.
To access the hot pools on the beach, follow the road to the end where you will walk back across the beach towards the rocks.
The hot pools are only accessible two hours each side of low tide. Don’t forget to take a spade.
