Hurunui River, North of Lake Taylor, Lake Sumner Forest Park
Description
Located on the walk towards Harpers Pass, on the true right of the Hurunui River.Easily spotted, look for a thermal waterfall beside the track, the access path is just north of this point. The pool has a thermal water input, with cold water also ‘on tap’. The spring can be visited about 50 meters further up the hill from the pool. [Aaron Schulz, Kaiapoi]

Good hotpools, though valve was jammed last time I visited so there was a little bit of silt in the bottom. Look for the waterfall down a rock face on the true right bank, then its a climb up the bank to the pool. The spring is higher up in the bush, you could dig your own pool up near the spring aswell. Can be accessed on either side of the river.

The pool is about 1.5km west of the Hurunui Hut on the true right bank of the North Branch of the Hurunui River. There are many other Hot Pools in Lake Sumner Forest Park, I can think of another 4 good ones on other rivers

Best way to find these hotpools you have two options: On the right side off the river Hurunui you can see the steam coming up from the trees in the morning or on the track look out for a stream with white coloured rocks in a stream. The stream is also warm. Happy bathing!
