Te Aroha is a pretty rural town on the foot of Mount Te Aroha (950m) that makes a great base for exploring the Waikato area, Coromandel and Tauranga, all within an hour’s drive!

The Holiday Park was established from a 100 year old homestead with stately oak trees providing plenty of shade.

Accommodation options include powered camp sites, comfy wooden cabins and fully serviced en -suite family cottages sleeping up to six people. All cabins and cottages have a television and some cooking facilities.

We have 2 hot pools, one with Hydro jets ideal to massage any sore joints from the long drive and a pure mineral water hot tub, set in the rocks, with seating for 6 and open at night, all season (weather permitting). You might just be blown away by the umbrella of stars and our stunning sunsets on a cold winter’s night sitting in the hot mineral water.

The children’s play area incorporates tree swings and a trampoline. For rainy days, there is a family room which has toys and books.  Free of charge wireless Internet access is available from most places so you can plan your next Holiday destination.

From North, follow SH 1 towards Hamilton, turn on to SH 2, after Bombay Hills, then SH 27 until Tatuanui, then onto SH 26 towards Coromandel - Te Aroha. At Z petrol station, go onto Stanley Road south west for 2 km we are on the left by the flags./n

From South, follow SH 2 towards Hamilton or SH 1 towards Taupo, Tokoroa, Putaruru, Matamata, then SH 26 towards Te Aroha.

Bather Reviews
DO NOT STAY HERE! The owner is a thief and totally unreasonable. We were mislead and lied to by staff about the opening times of their hot pools and upon our arrival we find the hot pools empty. We had come with our children for a 'hot pool holiday' so we politely said there was a misunderstanding and it was unsuitable for us to stay there. The owner refused to give our money back and we were forced to leave $240 out of pocket and had to find somewhere else to stay. The place is a run down dive. Don't even THINK about going here.

Worst place ever. Not as advertised in accommodation booklets. Run down, filthy & musty. Everything is paid in cash and when doing so we found they had no change so had to go and get some from the machines in the laundry. Don't waste your time here thinking it is as advertised, go elsewhere. Staff and owner are rude.

I stayed in Tui Cottage in May 2013. I arrived 1 day earlier than I had booked due to a disappointment at a previous place (Golden Springs) but the manager was very accommodating. The only disappointment was that due to the weather (severe thunderstorms and heavy rain) the pool could not be used. I must have looked stricken because he came over and said if the storms held off for another hour he would make sure the pool was up and running that evening, which (hooray!) it was. I was the only bather. My only criticism is that the pool is not very hot, maybe 32?, not very deep. and the concrete is a bit rough, but it was ethereal lying there watching the stars with the clouds scudding across the sky. Tui Cottage is highly recommended - all mod cons, beaut bed so a good sleep and inexpensive for what it was.

on arrival was informed they do not have eftpos. Left in a quandary as to how to pay.Was told by staff our business cheque payment was ok. However about 10pm that night owner (Anna) knocked on door of unit demanding I confirm my credit card details that I had given upon booking the day before. . I couldn't do so as I had left my credit card at home, so was informed if I did not pay cash right then and there then my husband, myself and my 3 children would have to leave immediately. I said to Anna that it was late and where would we go if I could not come up with the money then and there. She said she did not care, it was not her problem and once again informed we would need to leave immediately. Luckily, my children had not spent their spending money and I was able to use their money till I was able to go to the ATM the next day. Felt this was really unprofessional. Surely, when booking staff could mention payment by cash only. Really put a damper on what should have been a good time

Was impressed with how friendly and welcoming people were. Very nice area, and the cottage was quite cute and nice. I liked being near lots of trees and nature. Only thing I would've liked was to have a microwave, instead of a toaster! Needs a tad of updating, but otherwise is a great place, and really good value.

Superb spacious and warm cottage accommodations in a lovely country setting. Very easy to find. This was the nicest cottage I stayed in during 4 days of travel across the country with my dogs. The hosts were extremely friendly and the feel of the holiday park was lovely. I highly recommend these accommodations to anyone in the area.

We came to stay here from Waiheke because of the mineral pool in its advertising. However this wasn't working when we arrived on Monday and we were told that no more gas to heat it would be purchased until the Thursday. No apology or discount was forthcoming. We appreciated the free Wifi but this was one of the coldest nights I've ever spent in the Possum cottage which has an ancient one bar heater (the second bar was missing). It was -3 degrees the night we stayed. The owner was absent when we stayed and the people running it were not particularly friendly or helpful.

We stayed in Possum Cabin for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views of the Kaimai range are amazing, and the surrounding area was quiet and peaceful. The park is in a great location; you feel a million miles from anywhere, but Te Aroha township is a 5 minute drive away. The free WiFi was great.I read some of the comments before I got there and, while the crockery/cutlery etc isn't new and is mismatched, this just added to the overall "homey" feeling of the place & the cabin was spotlessly clean.I can't fault the friendliness and helpfulness of the management & staff, who went out of their way to ensure all their guests were happy. If you want a quiet, value for money, place to stay I really recommend this park.

Very disappointed in the overall standard and facilities of this place. We arrived with a campervan and were sent out to park under trees at the edge of the property with no walkways, paths, etc only muddy grass to access back to the facilities. We looked around for the hot pools and only found a dirty empty swimming pool and what looked like a fish pond under a dirty plastic cover. We were told that this was the "mineral pool" but it sure didn't give any feeling of that. We expected some association with the hot pools of Te Aroha but were confronted with a dirty concrete pond. We decided not to stay and asked for a refund (we had only been there half an hour) but were refused as there was a very small hand written note 'no refunds' in the visitors register. I am thinking of taking this organisation to the disputes tribunal for a refund as there were no terms and conditions and the facilities were certainly not up to the advertised 3 star rating. Do not recommend this facility until proper pools are provided and full explanation of terms & conditions.

We were lucky enough to find Te Aroha holiday park by chance........ we had a warm welcome and pleasantly surprised to find hot pool, clean showers and toilets.... The communal areas, kitchen, tv room and games room were a good place to relax and get to know the other guests. free wi-fi and good connection was another pleasant surprise. it's a good place for families with pools, trampoline and swings. we were only planning to stay for one day but decided to stay a few more. Anna (owner) was very helpful and anything we needed she was happy to sort out. we only had a short time in NZ but when we return we will check in there again, definitely recommended

Thank you Jeanette and Goeff for your feedback. I am sorry that you were without power this morning. We were all affected by this incident, a road accident about half a kilometer north of the Park, caused power to be lost to the Park and to all my neighbours. The local lines people worked all day, we even brought them cakes and coffee.. and we are so relieved that life is back to normal again. We had hot soup and coffee available in the camp kitchen during the day for those staying on, but I can understand that you choose to leave. I hope you had a safe trip home.

Thank you, Kim for your review. I am glad that your children and yourself enjoyed the facilities at this Holiday Park. Our booking and confirmation procedures involve records of a valid security to cover accommodation fees. As this was not provided at the time of your booking, again not at check in time, it needed following up. I am sorry that I had to arrive at your door late that night, as you were in the swimming pool up until that time and I did not wish to interrupt and disturb you there. As we only had a cheque from you, it was necessary to obtain a credit card imprint, failing this, we had to ask you to settle in cash. I hope you understand and would like to thank you again for staying at the Te Aroha Holiday Park

Nothing like the pics on the website! Cheap, but you get what you pay for! Hot pool was cold!!! It was a concrete small hold in the ground, needed more lighting at night. You have to pay extra for the spa, free wifi but for limited time a day and was slow! Was on a farm like setting, was shocked when drove in, very basic. No eftpos, they use the old credit card manual (paper) system, so becareful what you give them like a bond etc as it takes ages to get back! Needs to be updated. Pet friendly but they have to be kept to a certain area at all times. Was disappointing really, Don't always believe what you see on the websites...

Hi Goeff. Thank you for your review. The Rock pool is about 1.3 m deep and has seats all around the inside. As per photo above it allows bathers to submerse down shoulder deep when sitting inside the pool. THis pool is operating all year, weather permitting ( not during storms). this woman is the most unwelcoming host i have ever had the misfortune to come across, not only is she unprofessional but is money hungry and charges for everything in the camp ,including tv room.she also thinks she has the right to enter cabins ,caravans at all times ,she walked into ours several times .the camp itself is unclean and infested.the pools are constantly empty and to use them she also charges,it is a shame as te aroha is such a beautiful place but this matriarch is ruining the reputation on a daily basis ,and she has a bad reputation in surrounding areas.i would recommend going a few miles up the rd to opal springs where the hosts are amazing and friendly, the camp is clean and affordable also .and everything as with most campsites are inclusive in the price.

We only stayed at this campground because wotif had triple booked us at Meranda. I rang Anna and asked if she would have room for 2 adults, 2 children at short notice. She bent over backwards to help us providing mattresses on the floor to fit us in a tiny cabin. If you're looking for a modern 5 star place this isn't for you. If however you want somewhere to base yourself while you visit the surrounding area this place if great and reasonably priced. We visited within days of the dreadful Turangi attack on the little girl and we felt that our 4 year old was more than safe. It had a real sense of community. The only complaint would be the mattresses do need replacing and it could do with a touch of paint. Compaired to Waingaro its 10/10!

Dear Murray. Thank you for your feed back. I can fully understand your dissapointment if you thought that there were no pools available, but am sorry that you chose not to have a closer after I explained to you the location of both our Hydro Jet and our Mineral Water Rock pool. Both these pools were operational, they are cleaned and re-filled daily and other guests staying that night enjoyed the Hot Pool experience under the stars. Our Pool complex comprises 2 large summer pools, these are empty now, it also hosts the smaller pool lowered amongst the rocks which we fill up with fresh Spring water every night and heat it up to 40 oC.(unless it is stormy of course!) It is true the 2 empty summer pools you saw and are obviously commenting on are littered with autumn leaves, an annual event when our oak trees come into season and especially so after one of our Te Aroha Storms. All our camp and campervan sites are on grass some under trees, others along hedge lines. Guests can choose from a range of sites. We don't have any hard concrete pads to park your vans, which sometimes can be difficult in wet weather and I explained that to you when you checked in. I thought that you were satisfied when I saw that you had connected to our facilities and found a safe spot to park under the trees on our northern boundary. Once again sorry that you choose to leave after you spend the afternoon at our park.

Dear Mr Stevens. Immediately after your complaint on Sunday morning, the flat you and your family stayed in for one night was cleaned and inspected and our usual careful cleaning routines applied to prepare it for our next arrivals that night. As expected, no cockroaches were found and our guests that same night were very pleased with their accommodation. That same flat has been sucessfully let out again to two separate travelers following your visit. The same flat had also been occupied by several travelers the week previous to your stay and none had mentioned cockroaches or any other issues with the flat. Can you please get in touch with me and let me know where you found cockroaches, maybe we missed something? We always welcome feedback and much prefer to hear about any issues before our guests check out so we can solve it or offer alternatives. I am sorry that you had a bad experience here.

Dear Elana. Thank you for sending me this feedback. It must have been disappointing , to find that our alfresco fresh mineral water hot pool was empty during the day, because it receives fresh hot mineral water every evening as this is the most preferred time for guests to soak and relax. I was glad to hear that your children had a lot of fun in the large swimming pool during the heat of the day and also enjoyed the ropes on the tree swings. Thank you for the suggestions I will be re-painting the seats on the ropes and edges of the concrete pool this season. I am glad you liked the flowers in the Cottage, we always have fresh herbs available for our guests from the garden as well.

We chose Te Aroha holidy park because of all the good reviews, however was somewhat disappointed. First of all we were looking foreword to the “hot pool” but beware, the pool is only hot in the evening between 6pm and 8pm.During the day this pool is empty. The main pool is cold, the kids had a lot of fun but the pool could do with some fresh paint. The play area also needs some TLC. The cabin was clean and the flowers on the table were a nice touch. Overall, the holiday park is neat and tidy but needs updating.

Because of the cleanliness, peacefulness, friendliness, beauty & a little charming old-worldliness of this park, I now call it my 'country estate'.... We first spent 1 week here New Year 09 & have been back 4 times - just back from Easter & due to go again soon. Anna & her staff/helpers could not be more hard-working and/or kind with everything > including problems with our c'van. I always look forward to the sunsets against the silhouetted majestic trees, enjoy the sound of the neighbouring horses, the pool with the al fresco shower! & even the 'hail' of acorns, in a storm. The inclement facilities are varied: pool table, great TV room, with even exercise bikes under cover on the veranda. The close township is inviting with historic buildings & also modern needs catered for. Look for the Italian chandeliers !! in the best pizza place > we buy even when leaving Te Aroha > as the name means love, we love visiting!

It's not the fact that the lady owner double booked us that bothers me, it's the fact that she denied responsibility and made it out to be our fault. And to make herself feel better, she suddenly invented a rule that we're not allowed to use the trampaline in the courtyard, despite us having used it on previous occasions with her knowledge. Her blame shifting and passive aggressive rule inventing was a blemish on our otherwise pleasant holiday.
