I last visited about 34 years ago. We couldn't find the track, so wandered up the Taruarau River from the bridge on Pohukura Station until we saw a small stream entering on the true right. We followed up from the river, and there was a small, muddy hot pool. However, I doubt whether you could get access to it nowadays, back then we were with a party of scouts.
