My wife Bernie and I are very good friends of new owners Knox and Marilyn , and had the pleasure of staying with them at the newly opened hotel . They have done a huge amount of renovation and restoration with still lots more to do , but the new rooms are very comfortable , with modern , beds , bedding and furnishings . The bar is up and running and very appealing , for a cold ale or two . A private hot mineral bath is one of the luxuries to relax in after a long trip, and a back section with picnic tables under shading trees is great for enjoying that freshly caught and cooked crayfish from near by Waipiro Bay . We wish Knox and Marilyn all the best with their new venture , and I’m sure it will be the most sought after accommodation on the East Coast
